GGG Faculty, Ryan Galt, invited to speak at the Treacy Lecture at University of Wisconsin - Madison

The Treacy Lecture is named in honor of John Treacy, who earned his Ph.D. in Geography at UW Madison in 1989. Sadly, he passed away during his first semester as an Assistant Professor of Geography at George Washington University. John’s work focused on agricultural terraces and indigenous agroforestry in Peru. To honor a too-brief career by celebrating the work of other early-career scholars, the Geography Department created the John Treacy Lecture. The first Treacy Lecture was given in 1992 by William Cronon, then a Professor at Yale. Each year since, graduate students have selected a promising pre-tenure scholar to come share their work with the department.
