UC Davis geographers honored at state geography conference

Two UC Davis Geography Graduate Group (GGG) students were recognized for their accomplishments at the 64th annual California Geographical Society (CGS) meeting held April 30 – May 2, 2010 in Fullerton, California. PhD candidate Michele Tobias was awarded the Geosystems Award for the best physical geography/earth systems science paper in the graduate student category for her presentation “Do it Yourself Remote Sensing: Model Hot Air Balloon Remote Sensing of California's Beach Vegetation.” PhD student Rosamaria Rosen-Teeple was the recipient of the David Lantis Graduate Scholarship award, presented to students with high academic achievement. Improving Institutional Research in Postsecondary Educational Institutions

The Association for Institutional Research (AIR), with support from the National Center for Education Statistics (NCES), the National Science Foundation (NSF), and the National Postsecondary Education Cooperative (NPEC), sponsors a grant program titled: Improving Institutional Research in Postsecondary Educational Institutions. The goals of this program are to provide professional development opportunities to doctoral students, institutional researchers, educators, and administrators, and to foster the use of federal databases for institutional research in postsecondary education. The program has seven major components:

Graduate Commencement Registration Now Open

General information and registration for the 2007 Graduate Studies Commencement Ceremony can be found by visiting:
http://www.gradstudies.ucdavis.edu/commencement/index.cfm.

Students must register online by April 27, 2007 to have their names included in the commencement program and to be guaranteed tickets.

All those who received graduate degrees in September 2006 and December 2006, as well as candidates for degrees in March 2007 and June 2007, are eligible to participate.

Candidates who expect to complete their degree requirements after June 2007 but by September 30, 2007 may participate in the June ceremonies, upon registration and confirmation by their Major Professor or Graduate...
