UC Davis Geography PhD candidate Mitchell Snyder recently won first place in the Landscape Photography Competition, hosted by the American Association of Geographers' Landscape Specialty Group.

Mitchell's winning photo was titled, "Rodeo." The judges commented that his photo “captures the character of a region, conveying movement and a timelessness that is captivating.”

The photo competition is the LSG's signature event at the AAG's Annual Meeting, so we are quite proud of it and of our members who submit their photos. The photos provide an opportunity to convey landscape-related research in a visual way. In addition, all competition participants discussed their photos in a panel session organized by LSG Awards Director Dr. Janardan Mainali during the Annual Meeting last month.
